Lori and Andy Orion close a Mountain View home sale that their clients found first on RealScout
When top producing real estate professionals Lori and Andy Orion needed an agent-branded search portal to better service their clients, they turned to RealScout. This is the story of their success.
Lori and Andy Orion, the team behind Orion Partners, are not your typical real estate professionals.
With computer science degrees from Stanford and Princeton, and a law degree from Harvard, Andy’s background has given him research and analytical skills that are crucial to understanding market trends and providing insight about home valuations. His past experience includes being an attorney at Google for nearly a decade, a partner at the national law firm Fish & Richardson and a software engineer at MIT’s Lincoln Laboratory.
Lori, who holds a psychology degree from San Diego State University and a law degree from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law, ran her own family law practice in Palo Alto. This experience has given her the communication skills and tools needed to help today’s home buyers and sellers prioritize their goals and craft strategies for success in the rapidly changing Silicon Valley housing market.
Frustrated by the experiences their clients were having with national search portals, Lori and Andy were in search of an agent-branded search experience that would not only give their clients more accurate search results, but that would also give their business the tools needed close more deals – faster! Working with some of Silicon Valley’s top doctors, engineers, accountants, attorneys and technology professionals, Lori and Andy understand the importance of technology in today’s fast-paced real estate market, and wanted a real-time, collaborative interaction with their clients.
“We’ve found that some of the national search sites have stale and outdated information. There have been many times when a client asked us to see a home that was showing up as active on one of these sites, but the home had been under contract for weeks – or it had already closed escrow.”
Lori and Andy also found that buyers were using inaccurate estimates of value to guide their strategy for negotiation when buying a home. They would have false hope that offers using this information would have a chance of winning in a multiple offer situation. The national search portals sufficed for casual house hunters who wanted basic information, but active buyers were not being provided with the up-to-date information they needed.
“Our clients tend to be proactive and engaged… They need timely search results and the ability to sort homes in a way that makes searches easier for them”
Lori and Andy were initially attracted to RealScout because of its unique search capabilities, which can decipher the direction a home faces or whether the home is near a Google shuttle stop (many of their clients are Google employees).
“When we first meet with clients, we ask them what websites they are using to search for homes. Generally they are using Zillow, Trulia or Redfin. We let them know about our partnership with RealScout and highlight its accuracy and special wish-list criteria”
Since signing up for RealScout 18 months ago, Lori and Andy have used RealScout to help convert more than 15 clients into happy home owners.
“We recently had clients who were motivated to purchase a home, but were looking in a very large geographic area. We set them up on RealScout looking for wish-list items like Near Trails and Natural Lighting. They found 212 Orchard Glen Court, a home that is very close to the Steven’s Creek Trail and has huge windows to let in a lot of natural light. The home was a perfect fit for them and we were able to close the deal in 21 days.”
